July 2021 Recap

Another month has come and (nearly) gone: we’re at the end of July! I don’t know how the weather has been where you are, but here in Boston the weather has been nothing but rainy nonstop, and I would like a refund. I didn’t suffer through the snow all winter to be rewarded with this! But I digress. Before we get into the monthly review, I want to give you a heads up for how things will go in August: instead of our usual articles and series, we will be taking turns posting book reviews. So this way we get a bit of a summer break, but you still get some good book content. Win win! Okay, on to the recap.

The first week of July, I wrote about writing strategies–if you’re not sure which one you utilize (or which one you should!) then go again and check that out. The second week of July we took a break for the Fourth. Happy birthday, America! You don’t look a day older than 245. The following week Brit told us all about imperfect heroes. This one is great even if you’re not a big romance fan! Last week Sarah continued on our Building a Book series, talking about the first chapter. That’s a crucial one, folks!

On this month’s episode of Three Houses, One Podcast we discussed literary agents! Lots of good info if you’re looking for an agent or think you might need one in the future. Then we “debate” (I use the term loosely) the merits of the original 50 Shades of Grey series versus the trilogy in Mr. Grey’s viewpoint. If you prefer one or none of these, we’d love to know about it! Leave a comment below. In our newsletter this month, Brit discusses tightening your first ten pages. It’s not too late to join our mailing list! Sign up at patreon.com/threehousespress and you’ll get access to this month’s newsletter, all of our past newsletter, and much much more for only a dollar a month!

So that’s it for July, and we’re excited to see you again in September when we return with our regularly scheduled posts, just in time for our second anniversary–can you even believe?!
